North African culture is very vast, and people often under estimate the extent of it. Initially it started with the people of Maghreb and the Sahara, and they spoke different dialects of Arabic and Berber. Majority of them followed Islam.
People in this region belonged to the African and Asian families. The influence of Asia was seen more on the Saharan dialects. Much of the culture followed by them was related to Islam. They followed the traditions of Islam like praying five times a day and observing similar food habits.
In the Saharan region, the oases influenced the habits of the people, and they were mainly nomads like Bedouins. There were several sets of diverse people in the Saharan region. They mainly settled where water was available. They traveled to various parts of the desert. They reared birds and horses or camels. They had a nomadic lifestyle and they also helped travelers.
A considerable people of North Africans were Arabs. They spoke the Berber language, and all their cultural practices were very similar to the Arabs. They owned horses and land and they usually had their own community.
Along the valley of Nile were Egypt and the Kush region. The Egyptian language has gone through several transformations and finally evolved into a language somewhat similar to the Arabic. North Africa also had a very large Jewish population, and also has huge Christian population that has migrated from Israel and France. These people follow Christianity, and they had a different set of cultural values.
