European culture is a blend of a developing fast track western culture and the conventional English culture. Both the forms of culture exist in the society simultaneously in various levels of the society. In Europe, to understand the culture one must segregate the society into an age wise category.
The European culture is mainly influenced by the Greek culture, and ancient Greece actually laid the foundation for it. The Romans took it further in the medieval period, and Christianity had a large influence on its people. The Ottoman rule did not last that long in Europe and, therefore, very little influence of Muslim culture can be seen in these countries. Majority of the countries believe in Christianity in Europe.
However, today European culture is very fast, and there are all kinds of cultural influences including the popular culture of America. Starting from the music and appearances, a lot of people dress up like hip hop stars. In this fast age society, the concept of family values and respect are fast disappearing. Also, a lot of youngsters have a very strong sense of 'mind your own business' kind of attitude. This makes them unquestionable and sometimes unreachable.
One can draw a lot of similarities in the American and the European society today. Once upon a time European countries were known for their mannerisms and etiquettes. However, today all this is fast disappearing, and the trace of mannerisms is also erased. It may be unnecessary to follow so many formalities and instead it is easier to live in a world which is easy going.
