Japanese people are extremely fashionable, and it may come as a surprise when you learn about it. Right from teenagers to adults everyone is dressed very well and nobody actually looks poor. Also, the Japanese are known to spend a considerable amount of money on fashions and accessories.
It is an age old tradition that Japanese believe in that they have to live and eat well in order to be prosperous. So, you will never find Japanese people fighting for bargains or thinking twice about spending money on fashion and clothes. However, one of the key observations is that they will own a few clothes, but good ones. Japanese people do not believe in clutter and collecting a large number of clothing and accessories. They live with minimum, and also within their means. It is their tradition or culture to do so.
With the modern pop and rock culture, the teenagers and little older group of the society are increasingly becoming shopping addicts. Most of the fashion enthusiasts are girls. The street fashion in Japan is changing, and more and more American influences are being noticed in the Japanese culture. Many of the clothes that are sold on the streets are actually designed by disc jockeys and musicians, and so they all look very punk and hip. You will also find teens and adolescents dressed in punk fashion. At the same time, belly and eyebrow piercing is very common. The stores that sell these clothes also hire girls from similar age group and use them as fashion models to advertise their brands and products.
